CoderDojo – Programming at the RSC Makerspace
June 16 @ 2:45 pm - 4:45 pm
Join Rockville’s own branch of the international CoderDojo computer coding clubs for two hours of programming with kids and teens using Scratch, Twine, Raspberry Pi and more. Everyone will have a chance to demo their projects at the end of the meeting.
If you’re a high school student, feel free to bring a project that you’ve been working on or give a short intro to a technology that you’ve been using. We always can use mentors, so if you’re a software engineer, electronics guru or you just want to help kids learn how to code, contact us about helping out at our meetings.
If you have a laptop, please bring it to the meeting. If not, we have computers that you can use. We recommend that first time attendees show up a few minutes early so that mentors can help get you setup.
Important: Ages 7 to 17 are welcome, but children 12 and under MUST be accompanied by an adult for the entire meeting. Bringing a friend or two is fine, but please, no large groups.
Parking: If you’re not familiar with Rockville Town Square, please familiarize yourself with the parking options at http://rockvilleparking.com/. The library validates parking for 2 hours if you use the city lots. Since our meetings are slightly longer than 2 hours, you’ll have to pay a couple dollars. Another option is to use street parking or the 11 N Washington St lot which are both free.
Metro: If you are coming by metro, exit the station to the left and take the pedestrian bridge over Rockville Pike. Walk straight for block after the bridge and make a right to get to town square.
