Explorer Post 1010 New Member Recruitment
September 9 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Post 1010 is a great group of high school students with interests in computers, robotics, rockets, and engineering, sponsored by the Rockville Science Center. We meet at Johns Hopkins in Rockville Maryland on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings throughout the school year. We are developing our experience in engineering projects to see if we want to make it our career. We have a lot of fun! Check out our website at http://post1010.org.
We have technical presentations, go on tours, and sometimes play games, all with the objective of giving teens some hands-on experiences in engineering disciplines. We are engaged in several engineering and research projects, such as the Team America Rocketry Challenge, FIRST Tech Challenge, Botball Educational Robotics, and the UAS4STEM Drone Challenge. Every member of the Post is in one of these projects.
We enroll about 40 teens every fall and run the program through the next summer. Most members are involved for three or four years. This post has been active since 1997. We have had over 400 teens participate over the many years.
On Saturday, September 9, we invite 9th and 10th grade high school students to visit our lab and discuss the possibility of joining our club. We will repeat the Open House on Wednesday, September 13, 6-9pm for students who can’t make it on Saturday. If you plan to attend either event, please send an email to email@example.com.
