January 16, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
This month’s cafe will be held at Fuddruckers, located at 1592 Rockville Pike A, Rockville, MD 20852.
Our speaker will be Jim Monsma, the Executive Director of the Second Chance Wildlife Center. Second Chance is one of the most active wildlife rehabilitation clinics in the Mid-Atlantic. It is located in Gaithersburg, Maryland, and handles more than 3,000 injured, ill, and orphaned animals each year. Jim Monsma comes to us with a great deal of experience handling many native species of animals that are in need of care because of accidents, illness, or have crossed the path of the human species. Jim and the staff rescue songbirds, raptors, waterfowl, squirrels, groundhogs, chipmunks, bats, rabbits, turtles, and a host of other native species – for medical treatment, attentive care, and release.
Jim will discuss his experience rehabilitating native animals. Join us for an informative evening that will help you understand the science of wildlife rescue.
Science Cafés are free and open to everyone. They feature a scientist engaging and leading an informal discussion.
