Science Tuesday – Lets Do Lunch
October 9, 2018 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Tuesday, October 9
This talk explores how grazing animals affect the plants they eat, and how those plants affect the animals. These interactions sometimes last for minutes, sometimes days, and sometimes for millions of years. New insights give us better ways to manage deer and their habitats.
Dr. Parks is a retired physicist and a lifelong naturalist, a member of the Maryland Native Plant Society and an avid Weed Warrior. As part of the naturalist community in Montgomery County, he has followed the ups and downs of the deer population. As a homeowner, he has discovered the delight of having fawns in the backyard, and the frustration of tulips munched to ground level. As a gourmand, he finds venison delicious.
Rockville Science Center’s Science Tuesday is held at the Rockville Senior Center on the second Tuesday of each month at 1 pm. Join us on October 9 so that you can contribute you thoughts to what we will be doing with the science Tuesday program in 2018. We will have a few scientists with us to give a brief idea of what they do. Feel free to bring a friend and relative who has an interest or job in science. We look forward to a lively discussion.
