It is with the deepest sadness that the Board of Trustees of the Rockville Science Center announces the loss on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, of one of our longest serving and most dedicated founding members, Phyllis Marcuccio.
Phyllis Marcuccio was instrumental 30 years ago as the planning began for the first Science Day in Rockville. Through the years, Science Day has grown and served as an inspiration to the residents of Rockville and everyone nearby, emphasizing the tremendous importance of the scientific foundation of our society. Phyllis not only supported the Science Center when it was incorporated in 2009, but inspired friends of hers to donate the significant beginning of our building fund.
Now as we go forward with planning for our permanent structure, we know that her spirit and dedication is with us today and always. Rest in peace, Phyllis, and know that we will continue forward and complete your dream.
A service will be held on June 22, 2018 at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 520 Veirs Mill Rd, Rockville, MD 20852. The mass of Christian burial will be followed by a reception.
Donations to the Rockville Science Center Building Fund in memory of Phyllis Marcuccio may be made here.
