Rockville Science Café meets every third Tuesday of the month. Science Café is open to people of all ages and backgrounds, is free to attend, and features a scientist engaging and leading a discussion that encourages conversation, debate, and interaction. Rockville Science Cafe is currently held at Branded ’72 at 387 E. Gude Drive. The presentation begins at 7:00pm; those wishing to buy dinner or a drink often arrive at 6 or 6:30 to get a table.
Young Adult Science Cafes (YA Science Cafes) are career-oriented presentations by STEM professionals and leaders. The program is supported through an American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB) Public Outreach Committee Seed Grant to Expand Science Cafes in the Montgomery County Region. YA Cafes are open to college and high school students. Middle school students may also attend if accompanied by an adult. Events are held at Universities of Shady Grove and are free to attend.
Run in partnership with the City of Rockville, Science Tuesdays meets on the second Tuesday of the month from 1:00 to 2:00pm at Rockville Senior Center. Science Tuesdays features a speaker with a science background giving a presentation and answering questions afterwards. Events are free to attend, with registration required through the City of Rockville.
For those interested in an informal gathering to discuss science topics, Science Roundtable meets at Rockville Senior Center on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 10:00am. Events are free and open to the public; no registration is required.
